Freedom's Power

Erik Guzman May 14th, 2007

Freedom is powerful. So much so, it's scary.

If people get free, how will the religious leaders maintain control? Won't they lose their power to manipulate people into being good? If people get free, won't they hurt themselves and ruin their witness?

Don't miss part 3 of Steve Brown's Scandalous Freedom audio series as he talks about why we're so scared of freedom's power. Click the link below to continue the journey toward scandalous freedom in Christ.

You can get the entire 27 message, Scandalous Freedom series on CD. It's the perfect companion to Steve Brown's popular book, A Scandalous Freedom: The Radical Nature of the Gospel.

The "I critize others for doing things I don't do" line perfectly summarizes some thoughts that have been on my mind lately. What do you think about us Christians no pointing out the not-so-good things we do when we see them in others? It's something I've been struggling with lately, and it's the places I can show other the most love.

I've just recently have been introduced to Steve Brown's ministry (through a CD from Act 3 ministry). Two years ago I stepped down as the pastor of a small church because I had been unfaithful to my wife. These past two years have truly been a journey to grace that I never knew before. Sure, I preached grace, but now know I know it. Sadly, I was not like that minister of which Steve spoke who got the DUI. I had not taught my church of freedom in Christ. There was no chance of the church asking me to remain. If only they could know this side of grace … not for my sake, but for their freedom and a greater capacity to love Christ and know the love of Christ.

I am an 18 year old young woman who is new to Christ and lately I've been feeling kinda bogged down by religion. I didn't come to Christ for religion: I came to Christ for love. You helped me see that, Steve! And I KNOW God wants me to listen to your teachings :)

Bless you!
Lizzy

Dear Steve Etc.
Thank you so much for using your wisdom to help us(me) understand grace and freedom!!. I was not happy when I first heard your explanaition of freedom and grace because I was searching for perfection. When I finally came to the end of myself and decided that it was impossible for me to be saved, I was going to give up and just live till I went to hell as I deserve, because I can't live the life. BUT I kept your web site on my desk top and was going through it today to get rid of stuff I didn't want anymore and thought I'll give this one more try. Now I SEE God saved me because He wants to my performance is not in any part of the issue. If I do wrong I'll have concequences to put up with but God will never pull my salvation. When I do what is right I'll be happier but it doesn't make me more saved or righteous. God saved me because I believe Jesus is God's Son and nothing else.
Thanks for the help, and I look forward to meeting you when Jesus returns. Amen
