Description

Steve Stockman (Pt-2)

Erik Guzman June 7th, 2007

If you're into music and God, you're gonna love this episode of The Brown Sessions. Join us for part 2 of Steve Brown's discussion with Steve Stockman as they talk about the spiritual insight in the music of Radiohead, Bob Marley, Kurt Cobain, Bruce Springsteen, and more. Many in the Church may be missing it, but the rock is crying out.

Steve Stockman is the author of Walk On: The Spiritual Journey of U2 and The Rock Cries Out: Discovering Eternal Truth in Unlikely Music. He is also a minister in Ireland, a regular speaker at conferences and festivals, and has his own radio show on BBC Radio Ulster.

One Response to “Steve Stockman (Pt-2)”

When I saw Radiohead a few years ago Thom Yorke was spouting off about some rally for fair trade that he wanted everyone to go to down in Orlando or Miami. I just remember thinking, "ditch the politics and resume the tunes". That was when legalism had me by the short hairs and I couldn't see that he was at least doing something. Worse still, I wasn't able to at least say, "these people he's talking about really are being taken advantage of. I may not agree with his methodology but I can agree that there is a need". I'm embarassed by that and so many other examples like it and I am having to learn to extend to myself the same grace Christ has extended to me. The bruises I bear are bluer where I've done the bruising and I must stop. I find solace in the knowledge that I did at last get a glimpse of myself and my doctrine and at 31 its not too late to start concerning myself with the broken world around me.
