TRCOR

Erik Guzman June 20th, 2007

trcor.jpgFrom the creators of The Rubik's Cube comes a brand new confounding puzzle…it's The Rubik's Cube of Religion.

On this week's Etcetera, we finally take a stand on the essentials of the faith and make the definitive call on who's in and who's out. If you believe that, or even if you put the least bit of stock in what we monkeys believe, you need help.

We also talk new IM shorthand, "Christian" dating, and eventually get around to promoting Steve Brown Etc.

Click the play button below to listen. Hit the "Subscribe" button in the header of this page, and we'll stop by your computer every week and corrupt you with our heresy.

TTYL!

P.S. Here's the link to Desktop Tower Defense. Click here and type in Etcetera to see our group/scoreboard.

This is weird. I've been planing on getting a rubics cube for like a week now, and I've been spending a lot of time on a christian dating service. But what's most weird of all… I've heard the name Steve Brown before, somewhere. Creepy.

Welcome to The Internet Stream of Collective Consciousness.

No f#@$# way! What you talked about in the podcast. This is like church, dude. Those weird sundays where the preacher is talking to you. Except that it is you three. I tried to express the gospel to one of my coworkers this morning and getting nowhere. He was hearing but not understanding. I'm freaked out in a positive way. You guys are like ordained in the order of buffonery. Ya know what? This will become the show and Steve Brown will have to pimp you guys.

P.S. I love you Steve, you're show is awesome too.

Um, Erik, don't you mean TISOCC?

Chemical Erik June 20th, 2007

Erik – I'm worried about how interested you were in Matt's offer. "I'd want to know more…" Sounds too much like the first thing that would go through my head.

Why! Why did you tell me about DTD? I can't stop playing it! I was sitting here programming and thinking.

"Ok, now I want to create this function here to do this, and write this code segment to do this, and then place this squirt tower right there and then upgrade it before the fast guys come… huh… NOOO!"

I hope you are happy. :p

Sharon. Thank you for admitting that you've had doubts about the whole thing. I like that you said that even when things are shakey intellectually your anchor is God's love. I feel you man. Thanks for being honest.

Joshua June 22nd, 2007

Man guys, this episode really blessed (I resent the cheesey connotation that word now has) me. Its emboldening to hear other christians talk this candidly about what their faith "actually" means to them and not just the bull s^@# plattitudes that we're supposed to regurgitate. And Sharon is right about the reality of Christ. I'm going to take my two little boys to see their dying grandmother whom they will never remember tommorow and it hurts so bad I could vomit but I know that as fleeting as her life and my life and everyone's lives are God is solid and stable and the only real thing in an unreal world. I love you guys and love what you're about and love what you're doing. Even if you only have 1 person listening I know that the impact of your words will be great and far reaching.

Joshua – if you want to read more Christians being honest, go to the website Chad mentioned – cross-purposes.org.

Thanks Wayne. I'll check it out.

Hey guys, good job on emotionally working through the depths of the gospel on this show. When working in real life and through real problems and real stress, it's often important to get to the bottom line of God's truth as distinct from man's interpretations/religious groupings.

I wasn't sure from listening to this show about what exactly troubles you, but I can tell you from dealing with problems in my own life that a lot of time the important distinction is between intellectual assent (belief) and putting that into action and daring to believe in a God you can't control as the answer (faith). Because the message of the gospel is it doesn't matter what you do, you cannot do it on your own.

You might find Romans 8 has interesting things to say about some of the questions your asking.
