Keep Feeding 'em Dummy
Erik Guzman June 5th, 2007
Deacon Jay lives in a community of disabled folks. Most are on fixed incomes. When the power company raised their rates, it left them with one of two options:
1 - Pay the power bill to continue running the oxygen machine and charging the wheelchair
2 - Eat
As the individuals and families around Jay chose the first option and began to go without, he felt like he should do something, but didn't know what.
In times past, Jay would go to Bishop Frank to ask for guidance, but the bishop had recently died and Jay was alone. As he prayed, he shouted to Bishop Frank, "What should I do?" Instead of the silence many of us are used to, Jay heard the gruff voice of his beloved ex-con bishop who said, "Feed 'em dummy!"
So Jay did. And he is. And he needs our help. Go to his blog to donate.
Along with Steve over at Stupid Church People (this was his idea), we have raised $960 online for the cause. That's so damn cool. But there's still some matching money on the table to the tune of $520. That means that every dollar you donate up to $520 will be doubled.
$1 for $2 of food for disabled people getting hosed by the man…that's a good deal.
Click here to listen to a show with Jay and Steve from SCP, then start clickin' and use up the matching funds. Feed 'em dummy!
