This is one of my favorite shows we've done. It had it all. We celebrated Sharon's b-day. Friends stopped by to say "hi" and make plans to get together. Fancy Geoff provided rockin' music. Good times.

On top of that, we caught a clearer vision of our purpose. It's essentially this: bathroom humor and Christianity is what we do. Nobody covers that beat better than Etcetera.

Happy Birthday Sharon. I hope there were no arrests made due to public drunkeness I got this email today from the founder of Pandora. I heard you guys talking about this on one of the shows so I thought I'd copy you:

Disaster looms! Yesterday a federal court denied a plea to delay the massive increase in rates webcasters must pay the record labels. This means that, absent immediate Congressional action, the new ruinous royalty rates will be going into effect on Monday threatening the future of all internet radio.

This is a very dire situation and I'm writing to ask one more time for your support. The effort you've made over the past four months has been extraordinary and has forced the rapid introduction of the bill, but the committee process has been sluggish and we need to once again remind the representatives of the urgency of this issue. This is perhaps the most important phone call you can make for us.
Please call your Congressional representatives in the Senate and ask them to force immediate action on the Internet Radio Equality Act and bring the bill to a vote. It is critical that their phones begin ringing off the hook starting early in the morning. If it's busy, please try again later.

Alright, that's it! I'm not going to buy CD's anymore. I'm going to uninstall iTunes from my computer. I'm not going to purchase a single liscensed song ever again. RIAA lost this customer. I have bought ten times as many CDs as I normally do because of what was played on radio internet. Now I'm going to buy none of it at all! I'm not going to play this f#@#ing game any more!!! Scr#@$ you RIAA!!!!!!

The thing about RIAA (and the MPAA and television industry for that matter) I dont understand is why they seem to be 15 years behind in their thinking. It seems when it comes to anything on the internet they want to squash it or make it absolutely impossible for anyone to feasibly do it (whether it be internet radio or being leagally selling or distributing music, movies, TV). RIAA, ITS NOT 1991 ANYMORE, PEOPLE DONT WANT JUST SHINEY DISCS ANYMORE, QUIT TELLING US HOW TO ENJOY MUSIC!! LISTEN TO US, WE ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR &%$# SAKE!! You are nothing but a bunch of old dinosaurs!! We want it easy to get, inexpensive to get and to be able to do anything we want to do with it. They already shut down one of the best christian heavy metal stations a couple years ago (Savage Rock). And that ticked me off then. If more of them disapear, its going to be very dissapointing. The thing about record companies is that the artists get very little money from their cds sold. They need to pay for the recording sessions, meals, limos, production of the cds that the record comany may have paid for in the process. The artists make their money from touring and from merchendise like shirts etc. I think that RIAA is trying to hold onto the old model becasue they have been cheating the artists out of the money as well. If their songs are distributed on the internet the artists would say, hey, why are we paying al this money for distribution costs, etc. In the end, I expect that smaller independent producers are going to raise up and take over the market if the existing record companies cant get with the program. Sorry for the longish post

Speaking of musis, Facny Geoff, where can I get a copy of the music that was played this week. It was excellent.

I guess I should have anticipated this but I didn't. I'm kind of dumb when it comes to practicle things. If I were as good of a marketer as a musician/producer I'd probably be making some money from music by now.
