2008 Bad Girls of Conservatism Calendar

Matthew October 16th, 2007

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity."Ann Coulter's biggest Achilles Heel may not be her opinions, but rather her unapologetically unvarnished delivery. In the game of politics, where reshaping the definitions of words is part of the strategy, she simply refuses to play. In the end, we may learn that Coulter isn't anti-Semitic, but anti-semantic.

Or maybe she really does hate the Jews. Who knows?

One thing is for sure, you can bank on the fact that she'll say something inflammatory every time she comes out with a new book.

Doubt it? Well, see for yourself. Now you can track her antics in the coming year with the 2008 Bad Girls of Conservatism Calendar.

Coulter's an opportunistic punk. You should get her on the big show.

Oh, wait…

Being serious, I don't consider myself a perfected Jew. I'm a follower of Jesus, the Mesiah prophesied in the "Old Testament". Ann is correct that it would be better for a Jewish person to follow Jesus, but I think her wording was rather poor. The worst part to me was not what that implied about Jewish people (which I consider mildly anit-semitic), but that she implied considers christians perfect.

The anti-semitism part looks overplayed, as she wasn't directly implying anything bad about Jewish people. Her real problem is self-righteousness about being christian. Relying on Jesus should make us humble, knowing we're screwed without him.

Anytime a Christian points out to a Jew that both the scriptures of the old an new testaments, read from a Christian perspective arguably indicate that salvation is in Christ alone, he is accused of being anti-semitic. That accusation is, in my admittedly less than catholic experience, almost always false.

Let's think about it this way – in this culture, what would it take to be considered pro-semitic? Probably embracing some form of modern Judaism.

I have a cousin who is or at least has been a homosexual activist, and her response to any reasoned criticism of homosexuality and her own activist goals is to accuse one of being homophobic. If she had the intellectual honesty to substitute "critical" for "phobic," she would have been correct. The point of her exercise, however, was to cast an aspersion and put me (or any critic, really) on the defensive.

The annoying thing about false accusations/aspersions is that they get in the way of honest discussion.

As to being a perfected Jew, I'm way more down with Paul's Galatians diatribe.

In my opinion, most or many of those appearing or speaking in media are opportunistic, but is that necessarily a bad thing?

Dude. Coulter IS hot.

To help clarify, when Coulter said "Perfected", she really meant "HOT". And when she said "Jew", she really meant "HOTTIE".

Danny Deutch is not hot. He's just jealous.

(Does that make me anti-semitic?)
