The Blood – Kevin Max on SBE

Erik Guzman May 2nd, 2008

Peek! What happens when you take "the black sheep of dc Talk" and put him on the same show with an old, cynical preacher of grace? Join Kevin Max and Steve Brown on this week's SBE to find out. Use one of the options below to listen.

Max has a new album out called The Blood that explores his gospel roots and features collaborations with Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Joanne Cash and a dcTalk reunion with Kevin and former band members TobyMac and Michael Tait (they cover the Prince tune The Cross). We talk about that, his upcoming film The Imposter and being honest in art and in life. Don't miss it.

Also, don't forget to join the Steve Brown Etc. Facebook group and connect with other SBE listeners from around the world.

It's The Wind and the Wheat.

And it's an incredible read.

Fantastic interview that just reaffirms my respect for Kevin and the posture that he's taken within the context of the music industry. Left me wanting to visit this site and listen in again in the future.

Thanks for not being afraid to be you, Kevin. God bless you!

Excellent interview. K-Max's music is awesome, and he's such an amazing person. Applause all around.

hmmm…..reminds me of the 80's spin off's of the Greatest Christian Alternative band "The 77's"…..where Mike Roe got so bored he just had to throw something else together…called it the lost dogs or something…..so lack luster and ill inspiring…..and never made it back to the roots which made his music soooo great!! Hence music is just a matter of personal taste. Still an incredible voice though.

I always prefered Kevin's voice out of any of the others in DC Talk

on a side note, this was a great interview… k-max's music is very out of the box and to hear him interviewed by an out of the box "old white guy" was awesome… keep more coming!

Hi Steve. I really love your voice! Enjoy your humour. I would really enjoy seeing you live sometime. Enjoyed the rapour with K.Max. Thanx.

Steve, I think Kevin is your son from an old girlfriend of yours.

Sorry Erik, I meant, a lot of CCM is not that good.

I still think, like Kevin, there should not be a CCM category and so-called Christian music should live or die on its own in the public square. And, I still believe that a lot of CCM, past and present, mentions Jesus, without any context to justify awful lyrics and gyrations.

AJ

P.S. The 77s were a great band that made good music.

Why are you sorry? You don't have to apologize to me for anything. You're right. Feel free to speak your mind. I'm glad you're here commenting.

Peace,

e.
