Good to have Sharon back (and good to have a show with very little political content). It's too bad the subject matter was such a downer. This certainly isn't the right time to be in a job that makes your miserable and rubs salt in the wound by paying in (salted) peanuts.

I've tended to take my job for granted, but the current economic situation has made me more grateful for it, and you've made me even more grateful. No biting, kicking, or even screaming kids…

And, thanks for the heads up about no show today. I'm intrigued about the show Friday.

For whatever it's worth, I did a bit of research on "El Shaddai."

One of three Hebrew words I came across for breast is "Shad." From what I understand of Hebrew, "Shaddai" would sound similar to a potential plural for "Shad." That would lead a potential translation to being "God of Breasts" or "Breasted God." I'm thinking this refers to God being our nourishment and the one who takes care of us.

Also, I've read in Jewish commentaries that El Shaddai means "God Who-says-'Enough.'" "El" – God, "Sha" – says, "Dai" – enough. The idea being that God is sufficient for us.

Alternatively, I've read it means "God of the Mountain" referring to a pre-Hebrew holy mountain of either the Mesopotamians or Canaanites. I can't really remember which. And I think that's where the most common English translation (God Almighty) of El Shaddai comes from; mountains being symbolic of might and all.

And of course, there's an obvious interplay between the first and third one, but we probably shouldn't go there…

May the many breasted one make his face to shine upon you and give you peace.

I appreciate hearing the personal stuff, it lets us know you are real. I can identify with a lot of Erics problems, I have struggled for years now trying to figure out who I am supposed to be. There are many walls around my shame ball.

When you guys have a get together, are listeners invited? I know none of you know me but after listening for all these years it seems like I know you, or at least the you that comes out on the show.

Thanks Mike. It'd be great to hang out. Of course, you'd have to submit to a background check first. Don't worry, it's no big deal. It basically consists of buying a bottle of shochu and drinking it with me. The shochu never lies. Let me know if you're in. ; )

George McFly November 14th, 2008

I would love to drink Shochu with you Erik. Then I can ask Lorraine and Marty to join in for some SQUARE-DANCING!

Yee-haw!

(McFly, you're such an animal. ROAR!)

Chemical Erik November 14th, 2008

Shochu with the Etc. cast… makes me want to take a trip to Florida. Of course in this economy, I can't afford to lose my job so it will have to wait.

McFly – If you're drinking shochu it's no longer square dancing. More like 2-year-old scribble dancing :)

Or going for a walk…ON YOUR FACE!

George McFly November 14th, 2008

Moonshine is my drink of choice. I pour it on my Frosted Flakes in the morning.

Erik November 14th, 2008

Hey McFly,

Did you see who we had on the show today?

Erik November 14th, 2008

The Erik Soundboard has been updated. I just keep hitting the new "Take to Fill my Hole" button over and over and laugh every time. Thank you Chon Lee!

Check it out and see if it doesn't do something for you too. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Prolly is.

Note to self, don't listen to show when very hungry. :-)
