Etcetera – 12.10.08 – Adventing

Erik Guzman December 11th, 2008

Good things come to those who waitHurk and I took some time from our busy schedules to catch up, blow off some steam, plug and contemplate Advent. Use one of the options below to join us in the glorious light of buffoonery.

(If you're on the front page of the site, click "Read More" to see audio player options.)

Here are some links that came up in this show…

- Mark Driscoll on SBE

- Steve's interview with Rev. Billy from the Church of Stop Shopping

- Francis Thompson's The Hound of Heaven

- The chicken video – Blessed are the peacemaking chickens, for they shall be called the birds of God

Finally, thanks to The Smashing Pumpkins for providing open source music for the show. (Hey Billy, there is a God, He does like to rock…and He's coming!)

Dude, that advent bit was really sweet. I started up my "devotional" time again using the BCP lectionary for advent stuff, and I'm loving the whole "He's Coming!" thing. That's awesome.

Gotta tell ya, with the crazy holiday stuff I've been missing the podcast! I hope you can do one between now and Christmas. If not, it's cool. But I'll miss the buffoonery!!

If you could stick to a more consistent schedule, perhaps people would listen live.

As is, keep hitting that refresh button like a monkey on crack.

Tracy December 15th, 2008

I didn't put Marcia up to saying that. I promise. :-)

Um, Tracy, your drink is waiting.

I just found out I'm related to Pete Schweaty, maker of the world famous meatballs.

Erik December 17th, 2008

Ooo, ooo, I want to play! I love those Schweaty balls!

Hurk December 18th, 2008

Hey McFly – I know I'm a bit early, but I hope you and Lorraine have great Hanukkah. Will Dave, Linda, and Marty be visiting this year?

George McFly December 18th, 2008

"Will Dave, Linda, and Marty be visiting this year?"

Yes they are! I just bought Marty a new pair of Calvin Klein underwear for his gift! For dinner, Lorraine is throwing in some Hungry Man TV Dinners and we're gonna watch old Ed Sullivan Show reruns!

Oh, and Uncle Pete Schweaty might stop by too…
