Of Different Minds – Maren Angelotti on SBE

Erik Guzman August 14th, 2009

Of Different MindsThere's a lot of confusion and controversy surrounding AD/HD. Some even say there's no such thing, that kids are naturally hyperactive and that focus problems can be eliminated with discipline. The latest science shows otherwise.

(If you're on the front page of the site, click "Read More" to see audio player options.)

Maren Angelotti joins us on this week's Steve Brown Etc. to discuss the latest research on AD/HD and how it's part of God's plan for kids with learning differences. We also talk about where to start if you suspect your child may have ADD or dyslexia.

Maren Angelotti is a reading therapist for dyslexic students and an ADD coach. Three of her four children have learning differences and she's the author of Of Different Minds: Seeing Your AD/HD Child Through the Eyes of God. Visit OfDifferentMinds.com for more.

Mss Angelotti is right on track. I am glad to know that research has shown these people to be different but often gifted (like Steve Brown). Thank you for having her as a guest. We need to cultivate all our children with programs geared to recognizing that all are not the same, some need a little encouragement, some need a challenge.- AD/HD kids have creative minds, lets give them a chance to show us. Many thanks for your ministry.

My whole family is AD/HD including adults, brothers, nephews, grandchildren etc. My daughter is struggling herself with a severe disorder. She has trouble helping her son's who have been diagnosed with this. School wants them on Medication. No one understands, not even my church. My grandsons were kicked out of choir because of this and she has been labled bad mother. It is hard to deal with when the whole family is struggling with this disorder. My daughter has tried the medicine and it completely changes their sweet unique personalities and they cannot tollerate it. Thank you for the info, I am going to buy your book

Wow–God's timing is awesome. I am an experienced teacher that just accepted a job in a school with AD/AH students. This talk is giving me some background on what I need to know. I have always used a calm voice and lots of hands-on activities.

Thank you–will buy book tomorrow.
