Love & War (The Brown Session) – John & Stasi Eldredge

Erik Guzman January 13th, 2010

Last week on Steve Brown Etc., John and Stasi Eldredge joined us to talk about their new book, Love & War: Finding the Marriage You've Dreamed Of.

Now you can get the entire interview with all the stuff we had to cut for time, uninterrupted by commercial breaks. Hear John and Stasi talk about their need for marriage counseling and how to fight well, and get more wisdom from The Old White Guy.

(If you're on the front page click "Read More" to see audio player options.)

John is the founder and director of Ransomed Heart Ministries, a fellowship devoted to helping people discover the heart of God. He's also the author of a bunch of books including Wild at Heart, Journey of Desire, and Waking the Dead.

Stasi is the coauthor (with John) of Captivating and leads the women's events of Ransomed Heart Ministries.

Awesome. Absolutely awesome. I thank God for this broadcast and have ordered the book from our public library. I wasn't aware of a crisis at this moment in my marriage (I've been so focused on my ill health of the past 3 years) but I am convinced God wants me to focus on it right now. With His guidance and with Stasi and John's experiences and insight. Especially with the knowledge of the Enemy's involvement and God's desire for healing and growth.

Thank you Steve Brown and Co. for this interview. I love the straight forward way you guys talk. And please, would you pray for my marriage and healing? My non-believing husband and I have been married for over 31 years. Thank you and may God bless you all and your ministries.

I heard them on the radio than I checked out their book. Here is my review:
There are 9,175 Books on Christian marriage according to Amazon.com, so why read the Eldredge's Love and War? First, John and Stasi have written this book together, with honesty, about their feelings from two distinct points of view. One can tell that they wrote this book together, and did not hide their true feelings from each other. I felt comforted by their mutual viewpoints, gathered into one love. Stasi and John have 25 years of experience together.

The book is written around their golden anniversary. John and Stasi are not third year marrieds who say, "Look at the Parking Lot, Look at the Parking Lot, Look at the Parking Lot,""Don't you see the parking lot." Rather they have been driving gravel roads for a long while.

This is a good book that I would recommend to all married Christians. Yes, one might say it is only good for new Christians, but being a Christian does not mean that you need to make everything theologically complicated, rather the truth is the truth.

One flaw in the book is the use of too many metaphors. John loves to use the metaphor. Also the other problem in the book is a lack of index, scripture index, and subject index, and notes in the back of the book. This is a common flaw in popular Christian books. But overall it is a success. For more information on the book check out Random House's Web Site: Love and War
