Death Be Not Proud – Susan Isaacs on SBE

Erik Guzman July 30th, 2010

Susan and HoneyWriter, actor and funny lady Susan Isaacs is our guest this week on Steve Brown Etc. She joined us from the mountaintop in Colorado, but she's emotionally in the valley. Don't miss this thoughtful discussion about death, suffering and a good God who's in control of the whole mess.

One Response to “Death Be Not Proud – Susan Isaacs on SBE”

I don't want to sound like I am stealing Susan's thunder but I heard, read rather her exact words along time ago in a George MacDonald book, the title of which I have forgotten….the basic theme was an Christian man consoling a young boy whose pony had died and his comfort came in the same words…that if God allowed such a great love to flourish why would He destroy in the paradise of eternity. As I listened to this I had to keep pausing the computer feed to keep my own grief in check…2009 brought the loss of my cat of 13 years and my golden retriever of 15 years, both within 6 months. I have lost close relatives and friends, and I am sure from the exterior I don't look like a cat lover but I know the grief was no less. And without relating the whole story, I went through all kinds of regret for not doing enough for my little cat….she was crippled from birth and I think that gave her a human disposition and dependence unlike any other pet I have encountered… but hindsight kept blaming me for my blindness. I doubt if Susan will see this but I if she could I would share the verse that came to me as I listened….."But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9….I think that sums our blindness when we limit what God has in store for us and what he has done for us and what we have to look forward to if we could only get our mind wrapped around it. I still miss my dog and I still weep for my cat. Maybe its crazy…I don't think so though.
