John Lennon's Dream

John W. Whitehead October 12th, 2010

John Lennon was not just a great musician and songwriter–he was a dream-weaver who dared to imagine a better world. In commemoration of Lennon's 70th birthday, here are my ten favorite Lennon songs.

here's where john and i disagree. to my way of thinking, lennon's "imagine" is simply romans 1:18-22 put to music. in other words, it wouldn't make my list of favorite lennon songs, because it seems to be arguing for a pagan worldview, just sayin' is all.

THe other nine are great, and I'm a huge Lennon fan, but N.T. Wright nails "Imagine" when he characterizes it as "sappy nihilism." I think it's one of Lennon's few dishonest songs.

john was so talented but, i just hope that he accepted jesus as his lord and saviour if he didn't then what a waste of all that talent.
