Rust – Corbin Bernsen on SBE

Erik Guzman October 29th, 2010

Rust
This week on Steve Brown Etc., Corbin Bernsen, writer, director and star of Rust.

Rust tells the story of a former minister in a midlife crisis of faith. The film was inspired by the spiritual journey that Corbin has been traveling since his father's death in 2008. Join us as we talk about losing faith and hitting the reset button on our relationship with God.

Corbin Bernsen currently stars as Henry Spencer on the USA Network's hit original series Psych. He's best known for his roles as Arnold Becker in the 1980's hit NBC TV show L.A. Law, and as Roger Dorn, The Cleveland Indians' third baseman-turned-owner in Major League.

Not the best interview but interesting nonetheless. Mr. Bernsen seemed to have genuine conversation in Hollywood…if that's not a miracle I'm not sure what is. The only part that made me wince was the comment about the money being made in Christian movie making as opposed to horror flicks, etc… I think he was simply being honest but it still made me question this movie's motive in particular and the entire "family" movie industry in general, but i'm sure RUST will be a great flick.

As one of the 23 (million) listeners, I enjoyed the interview and look forward to seeing Rust. Steve's words about having that "heresy hunter" tendency was really good for me to hear. I have that same tendency that wants to "correct" and keep things nice and orthodox as opposed to letting someone go along their journey without interference that may derail them.

I enjoyed this interview and think there was merit in watching you guys treat your guest with grace – plus, it makes me want to see the movie along with the other 23 million. Thanks for all of your broadcasts. You are balm to the weary soul.

Good interview. I am praying for Corbin in his journey. He's always been a favorite actor of mine, and I would enjoy conversing with him, and hope to…someday! Hope he has the opportunity to read Lewis, especially "A Grief Observed" and "Beyond Personality."

Each person's journey to Christ is unique, and I'll be praying Corbin keeps on the path until they meet (whenever that is, or if it's already happened, hooray!) I think the part of my own journey that made me laugh for joy is when I realized it wasn't my path to begin with, but God's path and His gift of faith that got me on the path in the first place.
