Holidays, Addictions & Believing Again – Sharon Hersh on SBE

Erik Guzman December 3rd, 2010

Sharon HershFor many, addictions make the holidays a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

Take the stress of buying presents on a tight budget, a crazy schedule and difficult family members…add to that the pressure to deliver a Norman Rockwell Christmas, and it's enough to drive you to drink.

Join Sharon Hersh on this edition of Steve Brown Etc. as we talk about how addictions work and how to defuse the holiday bomb.

Sharon Hersh is a licensed professional counselor, speaker and author of The Last Addiction and Begin Again, Believe Again: Embracing the Courage to Love with Abandon. She's also the director of Women's Recovery & Renewal, a ministry of counseling, retreat and support for struggling women.

Thank you for this program. I have a son who has alot of difficulties with mental health (depression,…) and the holidays can be difficult sometimes on him and the rest of us who love him.
It's good to be reminded that we can't control but accept, love and also set limits on what behaviors we can accept and what we can with and in love.
Appreciate Steve's candor and honesty on why Christmas's past affect Xmas's present.

God's Blessings on all.

I am an addict, of alcohol, in remission, by God's Amazing Grace. My pastor has asked — How can our church establish a ministry for addictions? I believe you have provided great insight to the fact that many addictive behaviors are maintained without substance abuse. We demand relief,,, we seek Control!

Please join me in prayer- Jesus please show us how we can minister to the hurting without letting "religion" destroy your True message of love.
