Dialogue, Not Debate – Craig Spinks on SBE

Erik Guzman December 10th, 2010

Craig SpinksCraig Spinks is founder of the website RecycleYourFaith.com and co-author of The Outsider Interviews: A New Generation Speaks Out on Christianity. He's also a living illustration of the kind of mess you can get into by listening to Steve Brown.

(If you're on the front page of the site, click "Read More" to see audio player options.)

Join Craig on this edition of Steve Brown Etc. as we talk with him about the fallout from his last appearance on the program, and highlight the difficulties of inter-generational Christian dialogue.

Also, the new Chronicles of Narnia movie, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, hits theaters this weekend and Executive Producer Douglas Gresham stops by to talk it up.

I love your show, as always, but what a callow youth you have on this week. Could you interview him again when he's older? Steve, you are a gifted counselor.

Sharon Till December 17th, 2010

Ok. I finished the interview. I'm on everyone's side now. And I confess to being ever forty. There are, of course, members of the purple-haired generation with self-knowledge as well as self-awareness.

Trying to be nice,

OH MY FSM–I HATE the way you, Steve Brown, take on fixing you, Craig, and your relationship with your grandma, without your invitation or permission. That strikes me as extremely fucked. I would have mega reacted to that if it were me. Did I miss something?

Benjamin Ady August 20th, 2011

I want to amend myself, if possible. Just cause you didn't have Craig's explicit permission doesn't necessarily mean you didn't have his implicit/relational permission. Obviously he didn't react at all during the interview, so maybe … maybe that's what I missed.

I think the situation pushed my buttons, since i grew up in a church where people were right into fixing each other, and now I'm not a Christian at all anymore. Actually–thank you. Observing my own big reaction has been a great opportunity to know myself better. Thank you
