The Art of Being You – Bob Kilpatrick on SBE

Erik Guzman January 14th, 2011

Bob KilpatrickHow we view God makes all the difference in how we live and enjoy our lives. Is he a cosmic cop, an absent architect or could he be a passionate artist?

If God is an artist and we're his masterpiece in process, Bob Kilpatrick says "we have every reason to rejoice in every stage of that process."

Join Bob Kilpatrick on this edition of Steve Brown Etc. as we talk about his new book, The Art of Being You: How to Live as God's Masterpiece. Listen to find out how this very different view of God as visionary artist could change your life.

Bob is no stranger to the creative process. He's written worship classics like Lord Be Glorified, Here Am I (Send Me To The Nations), and musicians from Phil Keaggy to Sara Groves have benefited from his skills in the studio. Connect with Bob at BobKilpatrick.com.

Hey Guys,
I really want to listen to this but I think there may be some problem with the file. I can listen to Key Life but I get an error message when I try to listen here. Just thought you should know in case others have the same problem.
Thanks!

"God gives us the flaw so we don't get in his way." This is very interesting. Well, I was born with it. I do know the flaw (staying with this term) can really get in my own way. Back to the 'God gives' part…it certainly wasn't accidental. And in view of historical imperatives…likely nothing else is accidental. But the standard expectation of the flawed emperative is a trajectory towards a result (or ending) of failure. And if a person by free will, And some modicum of power, creates a deviation in that trajectory (that is, generates some semblance of perfection), it is really a vain attempt at control..to take hold of the 'brush', so to speak. And as is the nature of control, probably a boring venture. So..while I am grossly counter-cultural, and still semi-insane but intact, I am (at least for the moment) overwhelmingly glad that God chose to do the needful in my stead…and deviate my course. It is a flwed course still…but with the promise of an inspiring and eventful journey to a flawless destination. – Man, it is late. My wife is going to kill me. Just a quick shout-out to dictionary.com for helping me through some of the words I couldn't spell..never could spell. Thanks for the show!
