Hitler in the Crosshairs – Maurice Possley on SBE

Erik Guzman July 8th, 2011

Maurice PossleyIn the final days of World War II, a young soldier from Mount Vernon, NY, Ira "Teen" Palm, was sent to a Munich apartment as part of a covert mission to assassinate Hitler. The Fuehrer obviously escaped the attempt, but left behind a golden pistol engraved with his initials. Ira took the gun and what happened next just might write a new chapter in history.

Am I the only one listening to etc? Of course if I cajole Bruce Bronson he will listen.

And another example is one about a while back, on one of my early morning trips to Wal-Mart (yea), I got out of my car, and I thought I heard Steve B. talking on another car's radio. I went over to congratulate the man but I soon found out he was 'sleeping one off'. Who knows what got through?

Brought me back to a time when I went to my first bowling banquet, and had my first (and last) boilermaker. Somehow I got to my car and the next thing I remember was sitting in the parking lot with a boilermaker of a hangover, the sun shining in my eyes (ooh), and the radio playing. Who knows what I listened to all night?

God works in mysterious ways and I am just grateful God kept me in a safe place. Why me, when others did not fare as well?

Today's etc brought me back to 1965 when I was drafted into the army. The only lottery I ever won. And please don't tell me I won God's lottery. If grace is not cooperative, then everything is meaningless, and there really is no justice.

Back in 1965, my Dad who was a World War II Vet and a machine gunner in Italy, took me down to the induction center. This is the only time I saw real concern on my Dads face.

He and his friends, brothers, and in-laws were all part of a magnificent effort (and costly) to give us all the better (and maybe spoiled) life that followed the war. All I know is, I would not want to pick a fight with those guys, and God bless them all.

After the induction humiliation, I spent 8 weeks with a variety of guys, most of whom needed to fight with someone, and I think a lot of them got their wish. Of course I was the peaceful and intellectual type with some computer skills who got sent to Ft Myer in Arlington, Va. I know 3rd Infantry right?

The guys who told me of my assignment said "boy the Army really screwed up this time". If they had read further they would have seen the 7th DPU. And we were known more for retreats than standing our ground as Custer did. Clerical types!

We do need to research and remember the War and why it happened and what it took to eliminate the evil of genocide and world domination by evil. As Solomon said, 'nothing new under the sun'.

Each generation has to fight their own enemies and it wouldn't hurt to investigate the past to gain insight of right and wrong actions from the past. And of course the Bible is the only instrument of determining what the truth was or is.

Speaking of a 'smoking gun' or lack thereof, I do remember Perry Mason who only lost one case to Hamilton Burger. And of course Perry had to find and reveal the truth about his own client.

Hamilton was not only grateful but also shocked that anyone would do that. Where have all the good role models gone, long time passing?

Lastly, on Judgment day, we will not be allowed to NOT testify on what we have done. And to the best lawyer anyone can have, one called Jesus, who knows our guilt and only wants us to admit it, and of course that confession has to begin before the trial starts!

I wonder if Casey or her lawyers even thought of eternal truth, or heard of this, or just ignored this. But then again, God works in mysterious ways.
