Three Free Sins – Steve Brown on SBE

Erik Guzman February 10th, 2012

Nothing gets Steve Brown into more trouble than when he gives people three free sins (a practice that started on this talk show). So what does he do? He jams a stick in the hornet's nest and writes a book about it.

(If you're on the front page of the site, click "Read More" to see the trailer for Three Free Sins and audio player options.)

Join big-time pastor and author, Tullian Tchividjian, as he hosts this edition of Steve Brown Etc. and interviews Steve Brown about his latest effort to corrupt minds with the gospel, Three Free Sins: God's Not Mad at You.

Steve says the reason Christians are so bad is we’re trying so hard to be good. We’ve missed what God’s grace is all about. That’s the message of Three Free Sins—how to get free from the misguided obsession with sin management that binds so many Christians. We don't get just three free sins, but unlimited free sins!

Start clicking to hear the radical truth that the only people who get any better are those who know that, if they don’t get any better, God will still love them anyway. And, oh yeah, buy the book.

I tried looking up Three Free Sins on a Christian Bookstore's website. One of the first items on the list was for gluten-free wafers. I do not know what this means.

From one Favorite Son to another—-isn't it great to be one!!!
How much would an hour of your time – somewhere in the Orlando area cost me?

Last night as I was returning from Mardi Gras I was praying and thinking should I change my off the wall approach in my attempt to bring others to Christ? Then I discovered you on the radio…..Nope off the wall it shall be.There will be many mansions in heaven. I will be happy to have a pup tent. Thanks for your realistic approach.

Steve,
I just wanted to thank you for writing "Three Free Sins". I have only recently started following you but you have quickly become a spiritual hero of mine! We both know how great you are while at the same time I recognize how incredibly humble you really are. I'm thankful that God still uses "old white guys" to do things other than to play golf.

Hey Steve, to here you teach about this is for a me a drink of cold water in a dry dessert, it really is. I need to here this teaching all day every day for months to get all the legalistic works teaching out of my head and for my wife I might add. She would need double that.

What a great read, if you want to get real. Thank you Steve for teaching that we don't have to fake it till we make it. What freedom is found in realizing God loves us just the way we are. Thank you for your brave spirit to publish such a great message.

Blew my mind at every turn of the page made me weep made me realize God's really not mad at me!!!

God's not mad at me? Well, I can recall one particular time when He was VERY unhappy with me – when I was trying to be Mr. Know-it-All and ruined someone's meal by saying, "Ugh – don't you know those microwave dinners are VERY unhealthy?" By the look on his face, the poor man lost his joy for eating his lunch, and in my heart – wow – I really felt that God was telling me "NEVER do that again!" – thankfull I haven't and it's been 15 years, so, God might not be mad at us, Steve – but He sure does get disappointed with us, and like Jesus "clearing the temple threshing floor" in the end His wrath will come upon the Earth – and that will be in the form of judgement instead of today's mercy, but even then His wrath will be mercy, since to let the world continue as it is would be unthinkable…

Steve,

God has used your ministry to get me to finally "get" the Gospel. I can not express how much that means to me. If you know me you would be amazed as well. I praise God for you, your ministry and those at Steve Brown Etc. God is good.

Anyone reading this please read psalm 5:5 and tell me God isnt angry at the sinner

Rolland Coburn September 2nd, 2012

@brent

Because of Psalm 5:7 "But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple."

David was a mega sinner (aren't we all): he committed murder, adultery, was moved by Satan, ate bread he was forbidden in the law to eat, arrogantly counted the people, etc. And in Psalm 5:5 David declares, "The arrogant cannot stand in your presence…", but in verse 7 he says, "[I] will come into your house". So how can David come into God's presence when he is so wicked and arrogant? Because He is relying on the mercy of God.

Check out 2 Samuel 7:14-15, and see what God promised David, and why David relies on the mercy of God. Those promises are extended to us through Jesus Christ (Acts 13:32-39)
