The Blue Like Jazz Movie – Steve Taylor on SBE

Erik Guzman April 20th, 2012

When Steve Brown is away, Etcetera will play, and this week Steve Taylor jumped into our sandbox to talk about his new movie Blue Like Jazz.

The story of turning Donald Miller's wildly successful spiritual memoir, Blue Like Jazz, into a movie could make a movie of its own. From screenplay to flabbergasting fundraising problems to a record-breaking fan-led Kickstarter campaign to blow back from Christian filmmakers, Steve Taylor has been on a six-year-long roller coaster ride. Join us as he talks about directing Blue Like Jazz and see the fruits of his labor this weekend in a theater near you.

Go to BlueLikeJazzTheMovie.com for theaters, the trailer and more.

In addition to directing Blue Like Jazz, Steve Taylor is a singer, songwriter and producer. He was twice nominated for a Grammy and is the only artist to win two Billboard Music Video Awards for his self-directed music videos. And that, my friends, is pretty stinkin' cool.

Steve Taylor is a genius, and a Francis Schaeffer groupie. Hats off to him for what I hope is a film I will enjoy (if it ever hits theaters in Miami).

WOW…."Blue Like Jazz"….I loved the book but now I see I live so far out in the boonies it would be a major undertaking to get to an area with a theater that is playing it!! (at least by the current list) I am wondering what other avenues there may be to see it…I'd really like to see it….the trailer was great!

as much as I like having the old white guy around, you two (Erik and Zach) did a fantastic job ! I loved the comparison between christian movies and that other genre, lol ! so (sadly) true… don't know if this movie will ever make it to Switzerland so I went and got the book for my kindle !

Steve Taylor is my favorite theologian. Yes, I gained most of my theology from listening to his music over the years.

I am thrilled about this movie.
