One Response to “Top Religion Stories of 2012 – Terry Mattingly on SBE”

Terry Mattingly brings up some very important issues in reporting about stories from 2012. Chief among those for me is how we are going to live out religious freedom in the days, months, and years to come and if the US government is going to protect our freedoms or step on them. I have heard a number of good-hearted folks on both sides of the "contraception – Hobby Lobby" issue and no one has helped me understand how the government can constitutionally force a company to pay for insurance coverage for morally objectionable services when corporations have been ruled to have the same rights as individuals in giving to campaigns. I dislike the fact that companies and corporations can give to campaigns, but since that ruling has happened, it seems incongruent to deny the religious rights of companies while allowing freedom of speech rights in giving to campaigns.
Thanks Steve for your statement about not getting too upset. I totally agree. I sleep well at night too because God is on the throne. Thanks for this discussion!
