		<description>Mr. Whitehead sounds like he has become disillusioned (and bitter??), especially if you read his other articles. . .  but I could be wrong, as I have only briefly scanned a few of his other articles available on SBE.

I agree with his basic premise—Politics and Religion don’t mix very well.  It is very difficult to exercise earthly power (i.e., political, business, or parental power) over another and to do it effectively and sincerely follow Jesus.  

Christians must grow up and realize that compromise is at the very heart of wielding political power (unless you’re an absolute dictator!).  To pretend or believe otherwise is foolish and ignores Jesus’ admonition – "Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves."  Often Christians are as wise as doves while letting serpents do their thing. . . . 

As voters, we have to watchdog and make sure political leaders exercise restraint!  

As believers, we must pray the Lord gives this nation the leaders it needs and not the leaders it deserves.</description>
