Sorry to be commenting at this late date, but I just discovered this blog and this post today. The only thing I'm unclear about is whether St. Patrick's Day is secular or part of the Christian year. I mean, obviously "Saint" is part of the Christian vocabulary, but I'm talking about the way it is usually celebrated, with green beer and Kelly-green glitter and shamrocks and all. I had a co-worker back at IBM, a great big 305-pound Jewish guy from Burlington, Vermont, who wore a bright green suit every year on March 17th and changed his badge to read, "Sanford J. O'Epstein." That's what I'm talking about. Michael, row your boat ashore and help me out here.
