When my own sons expressed an interest in reading the Potter books, I was conflicted at first because I knew nothing of the series. I read a very good book "What's A Christian to Do with Harry Potter" (sorry, don't remember the author's name) and then I bought the books and read them myself before I gave them to my sons to read (a practice I continued as each new book came out, just in case J.K. went over to 'the dark side' so to speak). To me the important thing is this: think for yourself. If it bothers your conscious to read the Potter books, then don't read them.
