Joel Osteen is not a liar or necessarily even wrong, however his teachings unwittingly deceive people because they lack context by his omissions.

He preaches positive messages but his omissions on the topics of sin, hell, death, suffering, leave a contextual vacuum that will mislead those who don't know better.

Osteen, when asked about these things DOES believe in them. I chalk his lack of communication in giving a more complete context for his positive message as an imbalance, and possibly a communication's problem on his part.

Some interesting thoughts. I have always thought of a circumcised heart as one that is simply alive to God. Certainly though I can see where a heart alive to God would speak living words to others.

And Steve, I'm sure I'll still be your friend. Whatever you said couldn't have been too bad. And even if it was I'd still like you a bit.

I've always reckoned the circumcised heart thing had to do with what we speak into other people's lives and circumstances from our hearts being like seed that may take root and grow. Maybe it's nasty sexual imagery, but it's God's imagery not mine - I'm not real comfortable with it. In fact, I don't like it. Point being, however, that the heart ought to be covenant marked/cut/scarred/dis-or-re-figured, possibly in acknowledgment of the significance of what comes out of it in conversation/interaction with other people. May or may not have something to do with that bit in Matthew 15:15-19, I think. Anyway, sexual intimacy between humans results in their becoming one flesh. Saving contacting with the Living God in Christ results in humans becoming being joined by one Spirit, to one Lord.

I guess if one human is speaking the gospel or ministering into the life of another human, that may result in, I dunno, faith taking root and growing. Or if one rashly speaks something else into the life of another, some different sort of exchange/bond/dunno-what may take root and grow.

I always thought that a circumcised heart was a sign that we were to offer mercy and love, not law. Seems that many of today's sermons really focus on what we need to do, as opposed to what He has already done. Many on the list above strike me as focusing a great deal on following the law, which seems to me was fulfilled about 2,000 years ago. But maybe I am nuts and ignorant (I know I am not that bright just by looking at my college grades). My degrees are in engineering and business, not divinity.
