When you do as many interviews as we do, a lot of great stuff ends up on the cutting room floor (more specifically, sitting on a hard drive). There's just not enough time to squeeze it all into the talk show. That's why you should subscribe to The Brown Sessions podcast. This feed is about the interview, the whole interview, and nothing but the interview.

Subscribe and get down with Brown. It's like how much more Brown could these interviews be? And the answer is none…none more Brown.

Gareth Higgins (Pt-1) - How Movies Helped Save My Soul

Erik October 4th, 2007

Gareth Higgins wrote a book called How Movies Helped Save My Soul. This week on The Brown Sessions, Steve and I talked to him about it. It's some of the most insightful and entertaining shtuff on faith and film ever recorded (in our studio).

Gareth Higgins is a writer involved in peace and justice issues in Belfast, Northern Ireland (remember Zero 28?). He's also into spirituality & art (especially cinema). Check out his blog and podcast, FilmTalk.

Christian Singles & Sex - Dr. Doug Rosenau

Erik September 27th, 2007

All too often, the Church uses the message of abstinence to avoid the fact that single Christians are sexual beings. We'll often hear, "True love waits," but we don't get much instruction on how and why it waits.

Join Steve Brown (and Etcetera) for a stimulating discussion with sex expert Dr. Doug Rosenau as we talk about how virginity is about more than avoiding sex.

Dr. Doug Rosenau is a licensed psychologist, marriage and family therapist, and Certified Christian Sex Ther … (Read More)

Revolution - George Barna

Erik September 13th, 2007

From the Inside Flap of Revolution:

rev-o-lu-tion \rev-e-lü"“shen\ n–repudiating tepid systems and practices of the Christian faith and introducing a wholesale shift in how faith is understood, integrated and influencing the world

According to years' worth of data collected by George Barna, the church is in the midst of the biggest Revolution of our time. Droves of committed believers are foregoing Sunday mornings to live a 24/7 faith unfettered by the clutter and bureaucra … (Read More)

Confessions of a Reformission Rev. - Mark Driscoll

Erik September 6th, 2007

Mark Driscoll may be crazy, but he just may be the lunatic you're looking for. One thing is sure, this guy is entertaining!

I went into this interview expecting the polar opposite of what we got. Who knew that "emergent" and "emerging" were two different things? And who knew that a pastor could get away with saying the stuff Driscoll does and still have a mega-church? Oh well…welcome to postmodernity, I suppose. Maybe there's hope for me yet.

Anyway, this … (Read More)

The Secret Message of Jesus - Brian McLaren

Erik August 30th, 2007

Brian McLaren messes with my mind, and I love him for it. One book in particular, The Secret Message of Jesus, opened my eyes to the present reality of the kingdom of heaven in a wonderful way.

However, not everyone is equally thrilled with Mr. McLaren's work. Some fundamentalists have even declared that he's in league with the devil and on his way to hellfire.

Join Steve and the crew on this week's edition of The Brown Sessions as we talk about The Secret Message of Jesus with … (Read More)

Tony Campolo - The Politics of Demonization

Erik August 23rd, 2007

Tony Campolo is a regular on SBE. Don't tell Steve, but I think he classes up the joint. Over the years, Tony has definitely earned the moniker of Our Favorite Lib. We've put so much Tony "in the can," I can't believe this is the first time we're letting him out on The Brown Sessions.

Join Steve and Tony as they talk about the carnage that lies ahead as we move closer to the 2008 presidential election, and how we citizens of The Kingdom can stop the killing.

Tony … (Read More)
