Tasered Student: "I only wanted a unicorn."
Erik Guzman September 18th, 2007
A University of Florida student was Tasered and arrested yesterday after trying to ask U.S. Senator John Kerry about the 2004 election and other subjects during a campus forum. You can read all about it and see video of the incident on just about any online news site.
In those reports, you'll read that 21-year-old Andrew Meyer's microphone was cut off after asking Kerry whether he and Bush were both members of the secret society Skull and Bones at Yale University. Meyer became upset and was then detained by up to four officers while screaming for help and asking, "What did I do?"
Upon reviewing the video footage, the SBE news department has discovered that as the student was being tasered he also managed to exclaim, "I only wanted a unicorn."
While some have speculated that this may be a reference to an obscure Skull and Bones initiation ritual, SBE's further investigation has revealed the likely reason for this bizarre statement is linked to an overambitious 2004 Kerry campaign ad. The audio of this ad is included below and may provide a clue as to the motivation for Meyer's disillusioned outburst.
