Ralph Nader - Real American Hero

Erik March 4th, 2008

Go Ralph! With voters going to the polls in four states today, the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination hangs in the balance.

Despite the Clinton vs. Obama slug fest in the primaries, they really do have a lot in common. One thing on which they agree is that Ralph Nader's fourth bid for the White House could hurt the Democratic nominee's chances in November.

Well, for that reason alone, I think conservatives across our great country will cheer me as I say, "Go Ralph! You're a real American hero." Use one of the options below to listen as we salute Nader.

We now have 4 liberals in the race for president. Can I get a conservative?

How do I know you're conservative?
Please state your stance on all the following issues:
-abortion
-lowering taxes
-border security
-kicking the UN out of the US
-big "whatever" spewing tons of pollution and mistreating customers
-SUV's
-country music
-whatever "Rush" is talking about today

If your answer are acceptable I'll give you the long list ;)

I've got a reply half-written on the Mac, but my wife's hogging the computer talking to her sister on the cellphone "creating" a recipe for her on the Weight-Watchers' website. Wife's not the one in this household who needs Weight Watchers. I'm slimming down for my inauguration rig, although I look like H_E_double-hockey-sticks in a topper.

Christov March 5th, 2008

O.K., but I'm going to make some statements that many will find offensive -

I voted for Pat Buchanan when he ran for president after he hijacked the Reform Party.

I'm opposed to abortion. In the case of rape or incest, kill the sperm source.

Here's how we lower taxes and solve the illegal immigration problem at the same time: Today end all federal entitlement spending, including subsidized housing to anyone who does not currently hold some form of remunerative employment. Within four weeks, everyone who can work will be working, forcing illegal immigrants out of their illegally held, underpaid jobs (they will, incidentally, then find themselves forced economically to return to their homelands where they may become a revolutionary mass of dissatisfied citizens who know what it's like to be able to earn a living and who will finally hold their underachieving governments accountable for failing to provide adequate government, rule of law, and even a basic economy). At that point we can talk about necessary supports that will, by executive decree if need be, end during my second year in office.

But people will suffer, some will say. People are and have been suffering for generations without hope living from hand-out to hand-out on the FDR-LBJ degraded society plantation. It's time to send daddy-massa-whipcracker-welfare-state to the circle of oblivion that's been reserved for it and has been vacant for far too long, now.

Additionally, we need to have an honest discussion about forced sterilization of persons convicted of even misdemeanor drug possession. Imagine a nation where illicit drug-users didn't reproduce. Imagine what the world would be like if methamphetamine use, for instance, resulted all on its own through some chemical process in the sterilization of the user the first time it was used. It would allow persons of every socio-economic, racial, ethnic, and regional group in the United States to voluntarily select themselves out of the gene-pool.

In just a few short years, the United States could be back on its feet as a social, economic, and political powerhouse, as opposed to the third-world client state it's fast becoming.

As to border security, I say we let Europe police Europe, and the United States of America police its borders with troops brought back to the US from Europe. That will also be good for the economies of the US border states.

A fence? I think fence-building is a mature technology that tends to be pretty effective, although if the plan I've outlined above is put into effect, it'll only be needed temporarily.

The only legitimate reason for having the UN housed in New York is to make it easier for us to spy on them. But you know, if they've got their ill-conceived tribunal at the Hague, then maybe they should have whole apparatus there, as well. The really important thing is to use the UN to further the best interests of the United States from a dominant position.

Let's see, customers. Customers are going to have to form their own groups, self-advocate and make use of grass-roots initiatives to force changes upon the companies with which they trade as they see fit. The federal government has a role to play in ensuring things like food and drug safety. What are your ideas on the nature of that role?

Big "whatever" spewing tons of pollution. Reduction of air, water, and soil pollution is necessary to ensure that our nation continues to have sufficient resources to support future generations of Americans through the wealth it produces from those resources. On the other hand, a reactionary EPA serves only those who wish to see North America restored to a depopulated wilderness accessible only to ruling class elite eco-tourists from the people's republics they are hoping will spring up worldwide.

SUVs - let's see. I wish I was wealthy enough that I didn't care how much gasoline my vehicle consumed, but I guess if I was that wealthy, it would still bother me. Hard for me to imagine a mind that isn't bothered by that sort of thing. I'm guessing SUV's are going to be the next Buick Roadmaster - hard to sell, and expensive run.

I like Southern Gospel and Bluegrass. Elvis Costello did some good Country tunes. I think Evan Stevens (sp?) collects canoes. Good on him.

Rush? I don't listen to gurus or pundits, small "c" christian or political conservative. I don't know what the "H" Rush is talking about today.

Any questions?

Christov March 5th, 2008

The "Any questions?" question sounds snotty. Sorry. It was unintentional, I just got all whooped-up there for a minute. C.

Christov March 6th, 2008

No long list of questions? It's because I wore my cheeky hat, isn't it?
