Toilet Update:
The offending toilet has been placed into custody inside Chemical Erik's garage. A new, properly functioning toilet has been installed by Chemical Erik much to his pleasure. The events of "Toilet Tuesday" have been sucussfully countered!
If anyone cares, the new toilet is a Toto (brand). They're not cheap, but actually less than comparible toilets from what I read online.

As usual, I'm impressed by your transparency Bio Erik. I should probably be more grateful than I am that mind alteration has never really tempted me.

Also, I really liked the bumper music this week, and I think this may be one of the first times since the RIAA boycott that you haven't mentioned the artist.

The middle class can go to college by taking on huge, burdening debt! I'll have my school loans paid off in about 2-1/2 yrs, that will be 10 years after graduation. This for someone who went to a "low-cost" state college.

Almost went back to work without answering your first question. Prior to Tuesday night, I don't know if I'd say it was worth it. After Tuesday, without a doubt. Jesus was smart to make Lent 40 days. If I decided, it would be one week, and I'd never get to the point of dealing with deep issues.

First I want to say something irrellevant so that the meat of my comment doesn't show up on the home page. Now that I've done that sufficiently, let me add:

The worst thing I said was "crap". I did use it repeatedly in the first couple of minutes, since this whole event was set-off by toilet related matters.

I hear you on the praying for a group. When it's for a group larger than my immediate family, I don't feel like I'm able to say much for other people unless I know them very well. I tend to be very general and short in these case. No "I hate that crappy toilet. Why GOD, do you let that stupid crappy toilet torment me like this!" type of statements.

So, do you think the extra effort during Lent has been worth it? Also, I'd be interested in hearing about the prayer. Did you cuss?

You know…at family gatherings I always get asked to pray for meals and that kind of thing. I guess people figure I work for Jesus and it just makes sense that I'd ask him to bless us before we make gluttons of ourselves. Anyway, I always do my best to do whatever they expect, but I swear…one of these days I'm gonna pray like I normally do…swearing and all.

When that day comes, after they hear the mess in my head, when the next get-together rolls around, they'll ask the second most spiritual person in the room to pray.

Time for the update:
As many of you know, I've recently bought a house. The toilet in my daughter's bathroom has caused more trouble than everything else in the house combined. I have replaced all the hardware in the toilet due to various leaks. Tuesday night, my wife points out that the ceiling in the laundry room is wet (only damp in reality), and we quickly discover it is because the toilet is leaking AGAIN! We didn't notice for some time as this is a very slow leak.

Long story short, I totally lose it over the toilet. It's late, and I can't get to sleep. I take a shot of Vodka to try and relax (no - I'm not a heavy drinker, never have been). I burn off the Vodka in about 5 minutes and I'm still wide awake about 4 hours before I need to get up. At this point, I FINALLY start praying. It's a deeper heart-prayer than I've said in a long time. I get about 3-1/2 hrs of the best sleep I've ever had, plus now I'm mad. It was a crappy night, but GOD is strong.

In terms of the "escaping" I was very tempted Tuesday. I'm not doing anything overt, but I have two issues. 1) Prior to Tuesday night, I hadn't increased my prayer time. 2) I tend to push the limit of what I consider "news". If you doubt me, see the story above.
