Etcetera - 05.27.08 - The Resistance is Futile

Erik Guzman May 28th, 2008

Mini at "Slutbucks."Join me, Sharon and Hurk for a rockin' good time as we discuss the "3,000 member nationwide Christian group" that's calling for a boycott of Starbucks because of their new/old logo.

Mark Dice of The Resistance says the image is, "…extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves Slutbucks." Which begs the question…"Mark who of the what?" Use one of the options below to listen.

Here are some links that came up in this show…

- TheResistanceManifesto.com

- The Star Tribune article on the Starbucks "boycott"

- Mini-Me at the original Starbucks (along w/ other pics from his trip to Seattle)

- Eduardo Verástegui on SBE

- Jamie Moffett on Etc.

- The Order of the Merry Monk

Also, thanks to Jonathan Coulton for providing music for today's show.

Erik,

What's the name of the song you play at the beginning of the show? I really like it! If its already listed somewhere on the site, forgive my ignorance.

Hey bro. That song was actually created special for the show. Me and The Quartermexican put it together using GarageBand and the Beastie Boys tracks they released for remixes.

Glad you like it. Big [ping]!

Given that Caribou Coffee is owned my a Muslim investment bank, I think all Christians will need to switch to tea ;)

Mark Dice may not be so crazy. Click here.

I might just join The Resistance (but I'm not giving up my Slutbucks).

I like boobs - it's the bloated tummy that offends. Nyeh!

I have never really understood their logo. A better logo, more describing Starbucks would be a bag with a dollar sign on it
