The Sensation of Sight, starring David Strathairn (see trailer below), is a beautiful, dreamlike film about an introspective English teacher who goes around selling encyclopedias hoping to find meaning in the face of pain and loss.

The movie has just been released on DVD and Aaron Wiederspahn, the writer/director/producer, stopped by Etcetera to hang out and talk about it. Use one of the options below to listen.

Erik,

David Strathairn is a favorite character actor of my wife and myself. We are also huge Lost fans. A very good interview. Just wanted you to know that the podcast did have at least one hearer.

As to the new athiests, remember the intro to the original Star Trek? "Space… the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before." Its funny how by the end of the show these peace seekers were like "okay set the phasers from stun to kill!" Ah, the folly of fallen man.

Can you put up a link for the Starving Artist community?

As for the Starving Artist, I don't think they have a website yet. Maybe they don't have the money. Ha! Seriously, they're still painting the walls. When they get things going, I'll pass along any new info I have.

Wasn't there an interview a few months ago on SBE with this "New Atheists" thing? I remember the dude saying something about how the new atheists are so much less articulate and logical than the old ones were. I kinda feel sorry for 'em sometimes…
