Human Trafficking

Erik March 19th, 2008

A brothel bust in ChinaDid you know that 27 million individuals are enslaved around the globe today? (And that doesn't even include disc jockeys.) It's true, modern day slavery is a 30 billion dollar industry. It's an overwhelming and often hidden problem.

On this edition of [ping], we're joined by two people who've decided to do something about it. Eric and Stephanie have started something called Biking Against Human Trafficking. The week after Easter they'll be riding their bikes from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon and back (an 8-day, 450-mile trip), with the goal of raising awareness about human trafficking and motivating all us ham and eggers to do something about it.

We talk about all that (and more) and still make time for buffoonery. So if you're in the mood for silliness, I don't think you'll be disappointed. We're like the sweet and sour chicken of podcasting! Will yin ya, then we'll yang ya. Kung pow!

Erik, that picture bothers me man.

Jordo March 19th, 2008

This is a relink, I know, but my latest post just seems apropo!

I'm sorry. I'm usually so very forgiving, but we need to get us some millstones!!!

Jordo (change of heart) March 19th, 2008

On second thought, rage is never apropos. I'll leave it to God; lest I be hypocritical.

Eric March 19th, 2008

Hey guys, I had a lot of fun on the interview. Thanks for helping to spread the word on this. For anyone who is interested, here is the Biking Against Human Trafficking website. Go to http://www.freewebs.com/baht

I also noticed that the general feeling during the wrap up was kind of a self condemning attitude. I really hope that that is not the kind of vibe I was sending out to people. I do not want people to have a mentality of comparing one Christian to another, and that somehow one person can be better or worse. Something was said about hungering and thirsting for righteousness. I believe that if you combine a hunger for God, along with a willingness to let Him do what He wants to do through you, you will be amazed as to what God will do with your life. Some of the stuff I talked about with the miracles and all, it was not because of anything I could do. But I believe that God took the raw materials of my life, and has absolutely blown me away by what HE has done. So let that be an encouragement to anyone who feels like they just don't cut it as a Christian. We all screw up, but through the grace of God alone, He still chooses to use us in some amazing ways.

Erik March 19th, 2008

Erik, that picture bothers me man.

Me too Jordo.

Eric,

Hey bro, thanks for joining us. You know, the thing with us being self condemning…it's us, it's not you. You didn't send out a bad vibe at all.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for my part, when I feel condemned (and I didn't feel that from you) it's mostly due to a lifetime of baggage I've picked up and for some reason have a hard time putting down. I want to be better than I am and have busted my ass trying and have even given up at times. Sometimes I can't even cling to Jesus, and all I have is the faith that he's holding on to me.

Anyway, let me say again, it's not you. Your words had the opposite effect on me. You guys gave me hope that God can take what little we have and use it to do something that matters. Thank you.

Jordo (photographically bothered) March 19th, 2008

So its a shock 'n aw thing then? Cause it's really freakin' me out.

g-rock March 20th, 2008

i know we are supposed to love our enemies and all that good stuff….

BUT…

i thnk that these f**king people that go and pay for these "services" with children should be castrated and left out on the street to die a slow death…

amen…

Jordo (putting aside his rage) March 20th, 2008

The tough part though is that it is so easy to demonize these bastards. Don't get me wrong. Such a activity is VERY sick, perverted and destroys precious children (and I don't disagree with the castration part at all). But I have chosen to let God deal with it.

I will work to stop them, I will leave it to got to judge them.

What some don't realize is that some of them are just as sickened by there own actions as we are. Some of them are in terrible bondage. That's not an excuse and they will be held accountable by God. But I bet some of them might actually welcome castration (at least the chemical form). A person that demented doesn't control his sexuality; whether he knows it or not, his sexuality controls (enslaves) him. His mistake, though, was not when he became a pedophile. He turned the wrong direction way, way up the road from here.

This is what God revealed to me when I had my change of heart (read up). We like to think that we are greatly different from them. Are we really? We are all morbidly twisted; its just that our dysfunctions are more easily wrapped up in rationalized, socially acceptable packages.

If I can help free one of these men from the bondage that holds them in Hell's death row, it will be REALLY hard to put my anger aside, but I will choose to.

I am still full of rage, but my rage is now directed toward the one who truly deserves it. And his end is coming.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12

g-rock March 20th, 2008

all that sounds nice and all… especially when we throw in God words, etc… but it is what it is… those bastards deserve a torturous death, nothing more nothing less… they CONSCIOUSLY engage themselves in this sick activity (and i disagree that it's a mere "struggle" for these men considering they have to book a plane ticket, fly oversees, you get my point)… this shit is not a "weakness"… these people prey on innocent children, robbing them for life of their innocence… this is not a single guy who gives in to his weakness by pleasuring himself alone to some porn… these are savage pervs who deserve a place in the darkest tarantino film…

let them take the place of marcellous wallace in pulp fiction…. over and over… then let them get a taste of what it's like to be a "product"…

amen…

Jordo March 20th, 2008

But the difference between your single guy and these pervert bastards is only that of degree. If you follow the road of pornography far enough this is where you will find yourself. Though I am not guilty of such heinous a crime as this, if you are going to torture and kill these men, then you should torture and kill me next. I know damn well what the progression of sin can lead a man to do and think. I am thankful to have been turned back so soon along that path. (No, nothing pedophilic, but still.)

A sin is not weighted by its consequences. If it were I would agree with you. Very little in this world equals this abuse and horrible loss of innocence. But all sin brings death, just as all sin is paid for by the cross for those who accept Jesus Christ. That is hard to accept but it is true.

When I say that they should be freed, I do not mean that they should be freed from responsibility or accountability. They are wrong, VERY wrong. They did it knowingly and consciously (as with all bondage to sin), and they will be judged. But not by me.

Believe me, my rage is GREAT. I HATE this stuff with a passion, and honestly, I HATE the men that do it. I think that if I met one of these ass holes, I would tear his f'ing face off. But that is not from God, that would be a special gift from me. But I would rather save one of these abused girls, than tear a thousand pedophile faces off.

Chemical Erik March 21st, 2008

Amen Jordo. I'd say more, but I'm too cowardly to bear all my own problems, even thought they're "less" than the *&#%$#@%*&&'s being discussed.

Jordo March 22nd, 2008

It is when you realize how twisted you are that you begin to heal. The idea that keeps people in sin more than everything else is I'm a normal person. We are all monsters. The only way to not be is to realize that you are and that you need Jesus.

Jordo March 22nd, 2008

Being fallen is not a state of lying on your taxes or cheating on your wife. Fallenness is all the sick demented crap in the back of your mind that you are too afraid to let anyone know about because you think you are the only one. YOU ARE NOT!

You are not alone at all!

Jordo March 24th, 2008

You are welcome.

Jordo March 25th, 2008

Let us celebrate the risen Lord! He will set the captives free! Praise be to the Lord our God! Hosanna! who reigns on high; Hosanna in the highest!
