Getting Religion?
Erik January 4th, 2008
"The press just doesn't get religion." - William Schneider
The substance of that quote forms the premise of the website, GetReligion.org. Since 2004, Terry Mattingly and the other contributors to that site have been religiously helping the mainstream press "get it."
So, on the first Steve Brown Etc. of 2008, we thought it would be fun to talk to Terry about Time magazine's top 10 religion stories of 2007 and see how they're doing. What's more, we also get Terry's insight on the stories behind the stories and he points out one or two items of interest to watch in 2008.
Professor Mattingly writes the nationally syndicated On Religion column for the Scripps Howard News Service in Washington, D.C., which is sent to about 350 newspapers in North America. He's also the author of the book Pop Goes Religion: Faith in Popular Culture.
Use one of the options below to listen to the program. Also, watch The Guest Room for Terry's posts in 2008!
