I actually think you may have been a little (just a very little) too hard on it. Yes, it was about 45 minutes too long. But the movie itself was pretty fun, once it got going. If anyone's performance was contrived, it was Orlando Bloom (yawn!) & Kiera Knightley (a little too butch for my tastes). Also, I would have preferred more from Geoffrey Rush's Barbosa, in this film.
