The Divided States of America

Erik Guzman December 7th, 2007

Red and blue, conservatives and liberals, them and us…welcome to the Divided States of America.

Our country has been sliced and diced in the name of partisan politics. You think you're fighting for the future of the good ol' US-of-A, but you're actually right where the polarizers on both sides want you…lining their pockets as you fund the effort to battle "Them."

Cal Thomas and Bob Beckel stopped by to talk about Common Ground: How to Stop the Partisan War That Is Destroying America. Cal is a widely syndicated conservative columnist and Bob is one of Washington's leading liberal political analysts.

Listen to the program, then join SBE in our war against the corrosive polarizers. We are a lone voice of sanity in the wilderness of division. The future of America is at stake. Be a part of the solution. Don't let the partisan politicians win. Be a uniter. Join your voice with ours by donating to our vital work today. Together, we can stop them!

Bravo! I am so beyond the hateful discord between parties. Being and Independent that leans right since I first registered to vote at 18 (many years ago) I always felt on the outside of things, I felt I had to register as a republican to be included.

Zeke and I have many opposing thoughts on matters of politics but so what we also have many common shared opinions.

My whole family growing up were card carrying Democrats and proud of it. All the children are right leaning Independents or Republican but all of us find a way to get along and even tease each other.

Maybe the people who are so bent on exposing the evils of the ones that they oppose should spend some time getting to know them because no one who is honest is one dimensional. I am getting this book.

Love now tomorrow is not promised to anyone

Hi Erik :)

I agree.

I think about this alot but am not good at getting a proper perspective on this stuff.

However, I know me pretty well and I can be partisan. I think the reason I get that way is twofold:

1) Placing criticism on another individual or group takes the focus off of my warts and scars and I can hide behind it.

2) Siding with others who do the same thing makes me feel like I belong to something bigger than me and I can blend in.

I second what Mrs. Zeke said. Brilliant! I should marry her someday.

I believe that what we have understood to define conservative and liberal, right and left, is shifting all around us. Time for a new paradigm, I think.

Mrs Zeke December 10th, 2007

Zeke I would so marry you! But I am not cheap :P

I do have an issue however with not always being fair because I tend to go with my gut. Or they candidates spouses which usually tells me more then the sound bits can. But that is not really fair. The front runners now scare me so extreme! Or they appear to in the middle it is hard to trust not that the middle is wrong but at least be convicted about it.

Charles I can understand wanting to blend in it is why I started registering as a republican cause you have no power really as an independent in the primaries.

Zeke if you run for something I will so vote for you and I will tell you a secret. If you run and pass out See's candies you will have most of the female vote. I am sure you will have to do something for See's later but what could they want that would be harmful?

Adore you Zeke, be loved everyone you are

Even in my personal life, I find it diffucult to consistant stand for the things I believe in, while still showing the love of Jesus. Many in politics don't seek to show the love of Jesus, and those that do are in about the toughest environment around to do so.

While I don't like the partisan and devisive politics, I also don't like those who don't stand for anything. This is definately not a simple issue.

I love your teaching, Steve. I feel like you walked up to me and said "Hey Ed, check this out!" That's the personal feel you give to each of your shows. I wish Key Life was on as long as Steve Brown ETC. I get into what the lesson is and the show goes off.
My hat is off to you, my good man. You have a lifetime student in me.
Thank You!
