The Reason for God - Tim Keller on SBE

Erik Guzman June 6th, 2008

Tim Kellers headThere's only one true religion and despite all the pain and suffering in the world, there is a loving God…who will send many of us to rot in Hell for all of eternity. You've got to be a bigoted idiot to believe that stuff, don't you?

Use one of the options below to hear Steve Brown and Tim Keller talk about The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism.

Keller uses literature, philosophy, real-life conversations, and reasoning to explain how faith in the Christian God is a soundly rational belief, held by thoughtful people of intellectual integrity and deep compassion.

I was trying to describe my perspective to my college professor on faith and God yesterday and I was telling her how desperate the PR situation has become for us. It feels like we've done so much damage that its practically impossible to regain any credibility. I think a lot of people, I know I have done this, try to fix it by looking better. But, the only plausible and effective way that I have found for making inroads is through looking worse. I cited Sufjan Stevens line about John Wayne Gacy, "and in my best behavior I am really just like him" and described how all sin is equivocal. How my struggles with lust and overeating are no different than someone a Doctor who performs abortions and I think I got her attention. When she realized that we both occupy square one I had an audience. For what its worth.

Enjoyed the interview with TK — Really enjoyed the song 'Unelectable'. Would you consider ending the program with Van Halens version of 'Happy Trails' (get permission first of course).
