What do you think about my proposal?

Steve Brown October 7th, 2008

As some of you know, I preach/teach fairly often at Perimeter Church in Atlanta. I love the people there and their pastor, Randy Pope, is one of my heroes.

It's as close as I'm ever going to get to being a pastor of a mega-church.

I've always asked God to make me the pastor of a mega-church and told him, if he really loved me, he would. Or, at any rate, that was my prayer until I started visiting Perimeter.

They have more staff people than I ever had as church members where I serv … (Read More)

Etcetera - 06.11.08 - Fluxed Up

Erik June 12th, 2008

Everything seems to be in a state of flux…our country, the global economy, the church, our personal lives. All the change and uncertainty is enough to drive a person to drink (or trust in a loving God who's in control of this mess). I guess it depends on the person.

Use one of the options below to listen to this edition of Etcetera as we spend some time talking about being jacked up in a jacked up world.

Here are some links that came up in this show…

Etcetera - 05.13.08 - Dis-Orientation

Erik May 14th, 2008

Join me and Mr. Wood on this edition of Etcetera as we talk about changing sexual orientation. No…not us! Not that there's anything wrong with that. Use one of the options below to listen.

Jumping off of the discussion regarding homosexuals and evangelicals with Michael Spencer on SBE, we pulled out the list of all the other behaviors of non-inheritors of the kingdom of God. You won't find this as a surprise, but some of my junk is on that list. So we talk about that.

Here a … (Read More)

Erik Raw

Erik March 12th, 2008

Imagine an episode of [ping] filled to the brim with copious amounts of witty (and occasionally deep) banter with me, Sharon and our good friend Gordo from Canada. You can almost hear us talking about the latest music or silent retreats or reminiscing about the quality billeting I received in the Great White North from one of my favorite Canucks.

Well, you won't hear any of that on this week's [ping]. That was the show I had planned for you.

Instead, you'll get me whining abou … (Read More)

Golf, Porn & Jesus (not necessarily in that order…)

Señor Jefe June 29th, 2007

I'm not much for porn. I've found that as I get older, if I stumble across a racy picture on the web, or channel-chase past an explicit scene on Skin-emax, my response is less of "She's got a nice body" and more of "That girl with the nice body… is a real person, and a child of God". And I genuinely feel compassion for her (as I continue chasing channels or web surfing… ahem!

There was a day when I would have probably stopped & lookedR … (Read More)
