Disturbed & Concerned (Part 2)

Steve Brown February 7th, 2008

Maybe it’s an unusual amount of critical emails and letters, maybe it’s the book Erik and I are working on (Three Free Sins) or maybe it’s that my parents potty trained me wrong.

If you were “listening” the last time I wrote here, you know that I was going through my normal, self-centered, anal questions about me.

We all know it’s about me.

I told you that God laughed at me…and that, in his laughter, I felt released from my obsessiveness and started laughing at myself.

Then I tol … (Read More)

"I'll hold the phones and the wallets."

Erik January 16th, 2008

A guy named Chad (see pic) came over this week to talk with me, Mark, and Mr. Wood about chucking his life in the States and traveling all over the world (over 37 countries) for the past 2 years with something called The World Race.

If you've been listening to our show for a while and you've forgotten what a good Christian sounds like, this program is a nice reminder.

Chad is living a radical life of helping those in need and giving them the hope of the Gospel. Quite the contrast … (Read More)

Truth & Consequences

Erik November 28th, 2007

Check out this edition of [ping] and witness the birth of a new character in the pantheon of podcasting, Erik Solo.

I've never piloted this thing without somebody riding shotgun, so Mark and Jordo called in to keep me company. To stick with the Star Wars imagery, Mark plays the role of Chewbacca and Jordo makes a great C-3PO (fluent in over 6 million forms of communication).

Anyway, it was a good show. We talked about God's non-existence, keeping an open mind, truth, Rob Bell (th … (Read More)

The Fellowship of the Free

Erik November 5th, 2007

On the last Scandalous Freedom Podcast, one of Steve's suggestions for "Holding the Land" was to never forget the fellowship of the free.

Freedom and grace are at the heart of historical, orthodox Christianity. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. And while many have had a heart transplant by embracing stale old religion, thousands are rediscovering the good news of the good news.

Steve wouldn't say this about himself, so allow me…Steve Brown and Key Lif … (Read More)

Holding the Land

Erik October 29th, 2007

Today's podcast marks the end of our audio series on Scandalous Freedom. As you've listened to Steve, we hope that you've begun to discover the radical grace and freedom that's yours in Christ.

But watch out! When you walk in God's unconditional love, it's gonna drive the legalists nuts. While at times that can be a lot of fun, it's dangerous business being free. There are all kinds of forces that will work against your freedom. And if you start setting … (Read More)

The Path We Avoid

Erik October 22nd, 2007

At this point you may be saying, "Alright, I get it. Steve has me convinced. I want to be free. But how exactly do I do that? What are Dr. Brown's ten steps to freedom?"

Forget about it! If Steve told you how to be free, he'd be taking away your freedom. Just go be free…live free, speak with freedom, offend those who don't understand freedom, test it, walk in it, proclaim it…see if Jesus makes it real to you.

Kinda scary, huh?

Well, The Old White Guy … (Read More)
