Erik May 30th, 2008

Sick of partisan politics? Are independent voters on the verge of ushering in real change, or will the two-party system squelch their voice?

Marcia Ford, author of We the Purple: Faith, Politics and the Independent Voter, joins us on this edition of SBE to talk about how rabid partisanship is prompting voters to go independent and how the Republicans & Democrats are reacting.

My Vote

Steve Brown March 5th, 2008

I haven’t decided how I’m going to vote.

Wait!

That’s a lie!

It’s generally said by people who either 1) don’t have political opinions or convictions, 2) don’t want to offend and/or 3) suffer from the malady of perfectionism. I’m opinionated, offensive and, given my proclivity to screw things up, it would be insane for me to be a perfectionist.

So, I’m going to vote Republican. Okay? I’m going to pull the lever for McCain. I may have to hold my nose, ask God’s forgivenes … (Read More)

Mitt Romney said WHAT?!?!?

Terry Mattingly February 4th, 2008

This is, methinks, why God created weblogs.

There's quite a bit of buzz out there right now in evangelical circles about a series of informational videos that are up and running at CitizenLink.org - which is part of the wider kingdom linked to an activist by the name of James Dobson. McCain Campaign Song

Erik January 16th, 2008

After a strong showing in New Hampshire, John McCain lost Michigan to Mitt Romney last night. Now it's off to South Carolina for the primary there.

McCain told supporters in Charleston, “For a minute there in New Hampshire, I thought this campaign might be getting easier, but you know what? We’ve gotten pretty good at doing things the hard way, and I think we’ve shown them, we don’t mind a fight.”

You tell 'em Big Mac! It's that scrappy, never give up, never surrende … (Read More)

Jerry Falwell (1933-2007)

Steve Brown May 16th, 2007

Jerry Falwell died yesterday.

I ought to say something about him, but one wonders what in the world one can say.

Almost anything.

Christopher Hitchens, an atheist who says really dumb things and doesn't know it, said that he wished there was a hell and that Falwell was there.

Tony Campolo talked about Falwell's graciousness to Tony's wife Peggy.

Mel White, the gay guy who came out of the closet after he had written Falwell's autobiography (maybe God's sense of humor), … (Read More)
