Last month I told you about my lousy job-thinking God commissioned me to keep people from sinning. It was a lousy job because I wasn't very successful at it and people, no matter what I said or did, kept on sinning. Then I realized that the teacher wasn't doing that great either.

Puppet Show

Sure we wish we could be doing real ministry, but for some reason God's H.R. folks have placed us here in the Buffoonery Department. However, the next best thing to actually serving Jesus is, of course, promoting people who do.

Shane Claiborne - On Fire for Jesus

Shane Claiborne is an ordinary radical whose community, The Simple Way, is in extraordinary trouble.

Shane stopped by Steve Brown Etc. this week to talk about the 7-alarm blaze that destroyed The Simple Way's community center. In addition to being Shane's home, it was home to their afterschool program, community arts center, and Cottage Printworks t-shirt micro-business.

Shane Claiborne's Community Burns

I got up this morning and started to replace the Shane Claiborne interview with this week's edition of The Brown Sessions. I didn't get far before I came across a comment and this post from Mike informing us that Shane's neighborhood in Kensington was consumed by a massive fire yesterday. Thanks for the heads up, Mike.
